6 years ago, the International Run for HOPE started as an annual fundraising event that supports the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE. Established in December 1996 in Phnom Penh, this hospital provides 24-hour free medical care to the people of Cambodia who are otherwise unable to afford treatment.

The Hospital trains the next generation of Cambodian doctors. Many of the staff are volunteer doctors and nurses. The financial needs of the hospital are met entirely by donations from individuals and corporations. Over the past 6 years, HOPE worldwide Japan has raised over 35,000,000 yen for the Sihanouk Hospital.

The funds raised by the International Run for Hope will be given primarily to this hospital. 20% of this year's Japan events' proceeds will be directed toward domestic programs of HOPE worldwide Japan.
